This is the first book of the adventures of the Commissioner in Paris, published in 1931.
Maigret of Paris is waiting at the station an international con man, Peter the Latvian. She sees him go elegant with suitcases in tow.
Soon is found in the toilet of the same train of a dead con man, dressed in clothes lysis. It looks like Peter.
Majestic Maigret goes to the hotel and find a room with a well-known Latvian American billionaire. Later, the two disappear. The inspector leaves his colleague Torrence guard at the hotel.
